Looking it all up

Bye-bye cauliflowers, cucumbers, chillis…

Stupid weather. As if the rain wasn’t enough, it’s been really gusty today and I’ve just seen my mini greenhouse collapsed, blown over by the wind. All the pots were upside down except for two of the chilli plants. The oregano and chives are gone, the cauliflowers too, and the celery is no longer. Damnit ! I suppose I was leaving it a bit late to plant some of them out in the allotment, but still, it’s a pain after all these weeks of growing. We’ll see if the chilli survives, but as it’s still windy, I’ve no doubt the whole thing may topple over again. Stupid weather.

And so it all starts…(again)

Saw this :

It’s one of the web projects from the latest issues of Knitscene (link goes to the list of Fall 2007 projects). After my bad luck with tank tops, I obviously am not going to be knitting this for myself. The Young Chap and Step-pa don’t wear tank tops. I have a very nice uncle who seems as if he’d wear this sort of thing. Shall I ? He is VERY nice. And I’m going to make it anyway…

I’ve been putting the seed trays outside during the day as it’s been so warm. The sunny sunshine doesn’t seem to have encouraged the celery to sprout yet, and to my horror, the tomato plants had keedled over. It turned out they were a bit thirsty – I hadn’t watered them before putting them out, in case I scorched them or something. I gave them a good drenching in the evening and this morning, they were fine.

It occurred to me – I have way too many knitting projects on the go. The baby’s cardigan (mentioned before), Knitty’s Tubey, Stitch and Bitch Nations’ Lucky wrap, some ribbed socks I’m doing in a very bright colourway and the Ruffles scarf (scroll down, on the right). It gets to the point where knitting actually seems like a chore, which is plainly wrong. I think it’s the baby’s cardi that’s clogging up the flow – I’m on the sewing up stage and I don’t want to do it. It’s such a small item that a little mistake is going to show up really easily. Bleurgh.

Before rubbish collecting

This is what greeted me when I got to the plot today. That outline is what I dug yesterday, trying to make myself think that I don’t have TOO much to do. Hah !

Anyway, I spent about an hour and a quarter clearing up as much of the plastic as possible and this is what I got :

Eek, a blog ! How did I get here ? Too much time on my hands, clicking on link after link and here I am. If I was at work I wouldn’t have been this bored. And now I have a blog. I’m going to have to think of something to put in it. Darn.
